Portfolio website: Progress update!

portfolio_front-page.png
The portfolio website is coming along. I underestimated the time it would take to write about my work. But I think it's better to make it the best quality possible before uploading the site to the web-host. One of the things I'm glad is that I'm working with Joomla CMS to make it. I'm still new to web-design but the program is letting dabble into more aspects of the site little by little.

Just like with this blog, I'm starting with a template. I'm planning on using one from portfoliodesign.org. But even though I'm working using a template it doesn't mean it comes just like you want it and that everything is done for you. Up to right now I've had issues with the navigation bar, fonts, and the layout of different elements into the site. However most of these problems have been solved by a combination of consulting their forum and mainly dabbling around with the files. Trial and Error is nothing to be afraid of.

High Rise Fly

This is actually a rather old video I did. In fact its from when I started working on computer animation. This was a flyby video of a model I would use for another video I created afterwards. The idea behind the model was to create a sort of hybrid object where the two parts would complement each other. I chose the housefly/building combination because it reflected the concept of urban sprawl. I wanted the viewer to relate the imagery of how insects swarm with the way cities spread.

Reboot

Welcome!
PICT0325.jpg
It has been well over a year since I created this blog and there hasn't been much progress here. But that's about to change. I finally have a new layout uploaded (the link to the template can be found at the bottom of the page), I feel comfortable with my feedburner settings and I have content prepared that I plan to be posting here. So, today I present you the official reboot of Norman's Video Art Place. After all, if people can do it with old movies and TV series, why can't blogs get a reboot? It seemed to have worked with Batman, right?

I guess I should start by re-introducing myself. The name is Norman Javier Pérez Rodríguez. Born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. A recent college graduate in search of a life purpose and meaning. I plan to use this space to showcase my artwork and ideas. Currently I'm also working in creating a portfolio site, so I'll be keeping you up to date as to the progress on that little project. And hopefully I'll hear from all of you as well (right now there's only me, the other me, and annoying me, but hopefully others will join up).

So let us imagine that I just threw a champagne bottle at the bow of my blog and that its off on its marvelous journey through the blogosphere. See ya soon.
